Taking on the role of a HAM is not your typical "dream job" ("helpmeet and mommy" for those of you like me who have no
clue of what 90% of acronyms stand for). In fact it's HARD work. It's not a full time job because even a "full time" job is only 40-48 hours a week. We don't get over time for those sleepless nights or sick days when we're feeling under the weather and we sure don't accumulate vacation time but the reward for us is far greater.
I feel God is really calling me to encourage other wives and moms in my season of life to really embrace that role they have been given. I've been glued to a couple of blogs recently of women who have gone through this season of life and seem to have gotten it figured out at this point but nothing really from the ones who have just begun the battle. I've been a Christian for most of my life but I haven't exactly "walked the walk" if you know what I mean. I was raised in a Christian home (well two because I come from a split family) and for me God was never something I "found" or doubted existed because as far as I can remember He has always been there. So I never really had that moment new believers often have when they find Christ for the first time; I never really knew there was a next part.
For me it was when I met my husband. I don't doubt for a moment that he was the one God made for me and me for him. Our lives before God lead us together was all too parallel. We were both divorced single parents of girls 6 days shy of being a year apart. When God brought us together it ignited a desire in me to become a better wife and mother to our then two daughters. It has not been an easy road that's for sure and to this day I live on grace one day at a time. Fast forward to now, we have 3 beautiful daughters. Since adding our newest edition to the family back in September that fire inside me burns even hotter.
So walk with me if you will on this journey of becoming the HAM Christ wants us to be.
